"A DESERT CALLED LIFE"

I don't think I'm any different
after I met her
but I know I am.

'Cause I've never been the same.

She was an oasis
in a desert called life.

I had been plodding through the dunes
for untold eons.

Then I stumbled upon paradise
which was already lost...

But no one told me
so I've been fighting the raging storms
not knowing it was a losing battle

and not smart enough to know the difference.

Don't know if I'll ever wise up though
'cause sometimes we just keep running after whirlwinds
trying to grab them by the tail
thinking we're the tamer.

Then we wonder why
when we get to the end
our hands are empty and we're naked past the bone.

We didn't stop long enough to smell the roses
and the only thing we could smell
stunk.

But lilacs bloom in the spring.
