"THE PATH"

I sat writing my business plan for life.
All the new goals I wanted to reach.
Expectations I was willing to share with friends.

I wanted to bring one life to a close...
leave all the lost hopes, dreams and unfilled destinations
behind, where they belonged.

I needed to walk a path that I feared.
To learn to allow myself to be,
and experience things that I denied myself.

I had to throw away the decisions that I thought
were the only answers, the best choices at the time
so I could break free of the injustice I embraced.

I faced the fear of change, freedom and control.
In battle, I learned to let go... then, I found peace.
The war will be won in learning myself.

I never walked silently, my hand always rested in another.
Tears escape, my eyes weep, will my heart heal...
Today, I travel the rocky path... searching for the sun alone.
