I was struck by her beauty
blinded by her light.
Like a deer in the headlights
in the middle of the night.
My being was so blinded
I could not see.
Did not know
she'd be the death of me.
Though her beauty went
no deeper than skin.
I listened to no one
and I walked right in.
Now it's many years later
and I've had time to spend.
But I ain't any smarter
than I was back then.
