In the distance
I hear the sounds of life.
But here
the loneliness
creeps in silently
like the bone chilling frost
of a late autumn night.
I still remember
the wonderful sounds of life.
The laughter of children
the whispers of love.
I remember
the warmth of love
long ago lost
like a pebble
tossed in the sea.
But in the distance
I can still hear the sounds of love.
But the loudest sounds
are the quiet sounds of lonely.
Like the deafening sound
of the wind tossed waves
on a long ago
deserted shore.
