"ONLY A FEW ARE GUILTY"

I have hope
that we do not harm the innocent
in our search to find the guilty.

I hope that we can control our zest
in our effort for revenge
or pay back.

I hope that there is no revenge...

For a revengeful people
sometimes become so caught up
that they become hateful
of an entire race of people
or an entire country
when only a very few are guilty.

(This poem has languished on
my computer for all these years.
Why, I do not know. It's in reference
to 9-11.)
